Our team of radiation-oncologists has an extensive experience in the radiation treatment of urological cancers, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer and penile cancer. We offer the most advanced and modern radiotherapy techniques, including proton therapy.
Proton therapy
If you have a form of testicular cancer (seminoma), radiation treatment of the lymph node areas in the abdomen and pelvis may be necessary. Of patients under 50 who need to undergo this radiation, 90% are eligible for proton therapy. Radiotherapy with the MR-Linac
With the MR-Linac, we mainly treat patients with certain types of prostate cancer or with limited metastases in the lymph nodes in the pelvic area. With the MR-Linac, we take an MRI scan before and during the radiation. This allows us to check whether organs, like your bladder and intestines, as well as the tumor, have changed in shape or position. If needed, we adjust the radiation accordingly. This way, we can target the tumor precisely and spare healthy tissue.
Our multi-disciplinary approach
We discuss all patients in the Urology Treatment Team during a weekly multidisciplinary meeting. The following specialties are represented at this meeting: urology, radiology, medical oncology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and pathology. In this meeting, we discuss for each patient what the best treatment is and what steps still need to be taken before treatment can begin.
We have the most modern radiation techniques, so we can offer you the best possible treatment. We provide advanced external radiation through IMRT and VMAT, volumetric imaging with CT, MRI, and PET scans, and the use of markers for treating prostate cancer with the highest possible accuracy. For bladder cancer treatment, we use adaptive planning techniques to keep the dose to the surrounding healthy organs as low as possible. And patients under 50 with testicular cancer are treated with protons.

ADOPT study (patient inclusion is closed)
The aim of this research is to compare targeted radiotherapy with and without short-term hormonal treatment (6 months) to determine the added value of hormones for the patient.
PERYTON study
In this study, we are investigating whether increasing the radiation dose with hypofractionation (less frequent treatments) leads to a more effective treatment of locally recurrent prostate cancer after prostate surgery.
Dutch Cancer Registry
We share patient data with the Dutch Cancer Registry (NKR). They use this data for scientific research on cancer and its treatment. They cannot see whose data it is.
